As I stated previously, Friday started a new round of chemo - heceptin and paxol, which is not fun at all. Since Saturday afternoon, I have had major joint pain; Hips, pelvis (it think that's what it is), knee, ankle and even toes. Tylenol is keeping to a dull roar, but not making it go away completely. Right now I feel like I am in a fog. Julie, my home care nurse came by this morning and I am doing fine, blood pressure wise, on the high end of normal. Maybe the chemo has something to do with it.
Tonight we are going to my brother's, so that we can change Mandy's tires on her car. I haven't seen him for some time (September I think).
Mandy goes for her pre op on Thursday of this week. Hopefully we get a confirmed surgery date and time soon.
This is what we are having for supper tonight.
Creamy Dijon Lemon Chicken Broccoli Casserole
Make breadcrumbs with 2 slices fresh bread (in blender).
Add to 1 Tbsp. Melted butter and sauté until lightly browned, stirring constantly. Set aside.
Cut 2 large chicken breasts into 1 inch cubes. Sauté in 1 Tbsp. Butter. I now cheat and use 300 gr. sliced cooked chicken breast, from the freezer (homemade.)
Add 2 c. milk, ¼ c. mayo, ¼ c. yogurt or sour cream, 2 Tbsp. Dijon, 2 Tbsp. Lemon juice and 2 Tbsp. Corn starch.
Simmer until it coats the back of a spoon.
Meanwhile steam (Microwave on defrost) 6 cups frozen Broccoli, cauliflower and carrots until tender crisp (5 minutes).
Cut up any large pieces.
Spray 9 x 13 glass pan with Pam. Spread steamed veggies.
Top with chicken and sauce.
Combine breadcrumbs and 1/3 c. Parmesan cheese and sprinkle of top of sauce.
Bake at 350 F. for 15 to 20 minutes, until bubbly.
Serve with basmati rice.

Hi
Have you changed your email address? I sent this to istar and it bounced back.
I was just reading on the blog about your joint pain. What a pisser. I'm assuming that it will get better as the treatments go on. Or does it just wear off between sessions?
Do I recognize your supper recipe from the milk calendar from a few years back? How was it? I emailed the Tiramisu recipe to Mary Pat. I think that we might have to try it and pretend that we're in Italy too.
Do you think that you might still be up for getting together on Friday? I have to go to Mississauga to pick up some stuff then would plan on being back through Oshawa about lunch time.
Say hi to Leo and Debbie for me. (I'm assuming that's who is changing the tires for Mandy.) Nola just got a car last week and was wondering about the need for snow tires in London as they are getting another squall today. I called Lois this morning to see if they ever used them and she said no, that despite the snow from the snow belt, they manage fine with all- seasons. Oops, should I be bringing up the "touchy" subject of changing tires? Will I recognize you with your bruised up face?
Anyway, let me know how you're feeling and what you're up for. Take care
Anne
Just curious... Have you you looked into treatment that falls outside the western medical model? The more I research chemo et al the more I end up questioning.
i get oxycodone to take the edge off the pain. it's mostly for my neuropathy - but it helps everything (even at its super-small amount). this just stinks, no??? at least you can eat everything. i'm on the "if it's week 1 then i must hate smoothies - and have no choice but to have one for dinner". oh,dearie...feel better!!! and like the poster said, if your facility is connected with an eastern facility, don't hesitate to explore. a lot of what you're getting also has a homeopathic and/or naturapathic name. you just have to know what's right for you. everyone is recommending i do the same thing suzanne somer's used:mistletoe. well that's what i'm using. it's called taxotere and messes the hell out of my brain cells. hugs to you and mandy...ellie
ps: i still have to get to the post office. i've been feeling horrible recently. i'm going off chemo for 2 months so i *should* feel better soon - and at least for a while. i honestly wish they'd put me back on the heavy-duty stuff. it doesn't hurt as much (either that or i just don't care).
